Letters & Sounds Programme
Phase 1- Seven Aspects
- Environmental sounds
- Instrumental sounds

- Oral blending and segmenting
Phase 1 of Letters and Sounds concentrates on developing children’s speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for the phonic work which starts in Phase 2. The emphasis during Phase 1 is to get children attuned to the sounds around them and ready to begin developing oral blending and segmenting skills. At this stage, the focus is primarily on developing speaking and listening skills. Speaking and listening are an important set of literacy skills that will create the foundation to a lot of your children’s further learning.
All teachers in our Little Learners, Curious Beginners, Inquisitive Adventurers and Confident Explorers clusters are expected to complete training on Letters and Sounds before they start teaching the programme. For more information, please contact the Head of Early Years of your respective branch.
Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised
This is a new updated phonics programme designed to teach children in Reception (FS2) and Year One. The programme covers GPCs and Words in Phases 2 to 5. All teachers in FS1, FS2 and Year 1 are expected to complete the online training modules of the Little Wandle Programme. Arabic and French Language
- Marhaba Arabic language programme and Bonjour French language programme.
- Taught to children through the learning taking place in the class.
- Adapted to meet the learning and developmental needs of children from 45 days to 6 years of age.
