Our Pedagogy and Approaches

Curiosity Approach

The Curiosity Approach® is a modern-day approach to Early Childhood.

It’s a beautiful recipe book of wonderful ingredients, carefully mixed with experience, passion and a love of Early Childhood. We create a culture of curiosity, awe and wonder at JINS.

Reggio Emilia Methodology

The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an approach to teaching, learning and advocacy for children. In its most basic form, it is a way of observing what children know, are curious about and what challenges them.

  • The Reggio Emilia Approach is centred on children’s curiosity to learn and explore.
  • Children take control of their own learning.
  • The environment plays a big part as the children’s third teacher.
  • Relationships that children build also play a key factor in their learning.
  • Children are encouraged to learn through strategies such as self-expression, problem solving, communication and logical thinking.
  • This approach was developed after World War II by pedagogist Loris Malaguzzi and parents in the villages around Reggio Emilia, Italy; the approach derives its name from the city.
