Effective Behaviour Management continuation 3…
- Children should be verbally asked to stop any unwanted behaviour being displayed a maximum of two times.
- A child should be approached by the adult at this point (not shouting across a room) making eye contact and ensuring that the child understands what is being said
- In case of a situation whereby another child might be in harm’s way the child can be moved away- in the correct manner (by gently taking them by the hand)
- If the behaviour continues Time out can be used- 1 minute for each year. Make sure you go back to the child to understand why they have had timeout—do not walk away and forget about them!
- Do not show your stress/anger/upset to the children.
