Group Interventions to Promote Language Skills

 

Small group intervention All children should receive small group intervention to develop their language skills, particularly those identified as working below their phase.

Delayed – 10 minutes every day

Developing – 10 minutes every day if possible – at least 3 times per week

Competent – 10 minutes once a week

REVIEW

  • Running records of the children’s progress – vocabulary lists and skills checklists
  • These checklists can be changed to suit the working style.
  • Rescreen during assessment periods and reconsider the groupings.
  • All adults working with the child should be involved during assessment periods to gain a greater picture of their abilities.
