Your Role as Staff

• All staff have a responsibility to promote the welfare of children in their care by providing a safe environment in which children can feel safe, secure and valued.
• The environment should provide an atmosphere of trust in which children have the confidence to share problems.
• It is the responsibility of all staff to be aware of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse.
• All staff will listen to the child; encourage the child to talk about their home life and support the child’s growing independence while encouraging them to respect and value themselves.
• Staff members will not make assumptions or ask the child any leading questions.
